1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.

In the Old Testament there is a book called The Book of Haggai.
Haggai was a prophet. In the book of Haggai it is suggested to the people that if they want to do better, if they want to have more they must first reconstruct the temple.
God said through the prophet that the people must first seek God if they want to be better people.
The instruction was for the people to rebuild the temple. To show God gratitude and prove to God how grateful the people were to be blessed.
God’s promise to them was that once they reconstructed the temple it would be more beautiful than it ever was. It will be stronger and more blessed.

God speaks to all of us.
In the Old Testament it was common for God to speak through the prophets and tell them to speak to the people. It wasn’t until the New Testament, Jesus taught us how to develop a personal relationship with God, that we can get messages from God ourselves.

Some of us hear him but we do not listen to his instructions. He says “stop eating junk food.” But the first thing we buy when grocery shopping is the worst thing or us. Even as we are eating the junk food we say to ourselves “I really shouldn’t be eating this!” but not a second later we pop it into our mouth without a second thought. And if there is a second thought that thought is “oh well, I’ll cut down on the junk food another day.”
Isn’t it obvious that the little voice that spoke to you before you ate the junk food was God. That was speaking in the familiar small voice saying “stop!” in the most respectful manner possible. Without intruding on your free will.

1Corinthians 6:19, in the New Testament, is a revised meaning of Haggai.
Where in Haggai God said reconstruct the temple, 1 Corinthians says the temple is your body.
If in Haggai God says that after reconstruction the temple will be more beautiful and stronger then how much more would he do for a person’s body, the temple of the spirit? He will do so much more than he would do for a building.

When one is going through a divorce, through health issues, through financial issues, through career issues, through drug and alcohol issues all they must do is reconstruct their mind, focus on the power of God, dedicate their hearts to the mercy and power of God and they will be made stronger and more beautiful.

In general when rebuilding we must focus on God as our main source of strength. It is always wise to:
1. Read literature that is inspiring.
2. Keep a journal
3. Meditate
4. Show gratitude by doing something nice every day.
